Christopher Berry
Managing Director
Christopher Berry is a nationally recognized expert in
preventing bullying, harassment, and related violence through ally
building techniques. His background includes training and
experience in sexual assault prevention and response, men’s violence
prevention, prejudice reduction and community building, ally building,
relational violence issues, grief and loss, and gender and sexual
identity issues. Rev. Berry served as a Core Staff Member of
Prevention and Wellness Services at Western Washington University, on a
volunteer basis, for over 10 years. During this time, he was the
founding staff advisor of Men Against Rape, a sexual assault prevention
program for college men, and was responsible for training and
supervision of the peer health educators in this group. He was the
founding staff advisor for Western Men Against Violence, a program that
has received grant funding through the Department of Justice’s Ending
Violence Against Women grant, and was the author of the original
training program used to train the peer educators. He was also
responsible for teaching the Grief and Loss courses for Health Education
250 and the contact professional for the residential advisors. He
was a founding member of the Campus Community Coalition for the
Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Related Violence.
Rev. Berry is also employed as a Managing Director of Northwest Violence
Prevention Solutions where he is the director of NVPS's programs for
Religious Communities. He is a nationally recognized author of
Biblical studies in violence prevention. Rev. Berry is an ordained
Lutheran Pastor, and is currently serving as the Lutheran Campus Pastor
at Western Washington University.
Rev. Berry is a certified trainer for the National Coalition Building
Institute, an international organization dedicated to reducing prejudice
and building stronger communities. He is also a certified trainer
and contributing author for the US Department of Justice’s Preventing
Domestic Violence in Faith and Religious Communities program.
He has recently completed writing and has begun implementation of a US
Department of Justice program on Recognizing and Responding to
Relational Violence in Adolescents and Young Adults.
